U.N. HABITAT MOZAMBIQUE Floods

PROBLEM

Each decade Mozambique suffers several large floods from its big rivers: Limpopo and Zambeze. Each time hundreds of thousands inhabitants lost their houses, crops and animals.

GOVERNMENT STRATEGY

Mozambique Government tries to relocate this people on highland far away of the rivers. But, local economy depends of river basin and its rich soil to cultivate.

U.N.HABITAT tried to teach to villagers to build new houses, but almost everyone knows to do, the real problem was a lot of people dead with floods.

STRATEGY PROJECT U.N.HABITAT

1.- No build new houses.

2.-Teach children at the schools what they must do when flood comes. This game explains different architectonic actions at a simple and creative way.
